Welcome to my blog! If you haven’t guessed yet, this blog chronicles some of my published writing, my path as a freelance writer, and any other random ideas I feel the incredibly urgent need to post.
Who runs this thing?
My name is Ashley, and I write. I earned a B.A. in English with a concentration in writing from the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!). I have been out of college for 5+ years now but have not lost my passion for writing. I currently work full-time as a litigation paralegal but am always sniffing out the next great writing gig.
Before relocating to the Greater Atlanta Area, I regularly contributed to Eat Sleep Play Beaufort, a Facebook community page that highlights the history, art, business, and culture of my hometown, Beaufort, SC. Its focus is all-things-local and gives Beaufortonians and non-Beaufortonians alike the opportunity to network and spread the word about events, businesses, fundraisers, classifieds, etc.
I am also a contributing writer for The Levo League, a website dedicated to the professional Gen Y woman. Topics include career and relationship advice.
What will you find here?
I will post links to my published work, as well as my writing endeavors, failures and successes. Being out of the writing game for awhile, I found it very difficult to get back into the “groove”. I am hoping that this blog will inspire others in similar positions to get back to doing what they love, whether it’s writing, painting, photography, music, etc. This blog is a sort of experiment to see how long it will take me to transform a passion, that has always been more of a hobby, into an actual career. The idea is not to “sell out”. Getting my name out there is Priority #1. But, let’s face it, getting paid to write would be pretty awesome.
Don’t be shy!
Please feel free to comment on my posts and share what you want with the world! I want to know that people are reading this. Initiate some dialogue, or just drop some insightful lines to let me know you’re out there.
